Pursuing your passion is sometimes easier said than done, but Kill Kartel didn’t look back when he decided to follow his heart and change career paths. It wasn’t a complete lane change, however, with his entrepreneurial know-how translating over nicely into his current venture as label owner. Electronic Animals is the name of his newly launched imprint, and it’s officially kicking off with an exceptional first foray, in the form of “Oxygen.” It’s a project he’s been holding on to for a few years now, finally letting the proggy tune see the light of day.
“I’ve been really excited about this debut track, as it pulls a long history of listening to electronic music and my journey in producing it,” he tells Insomniac. “I wrote the main melody years ago and just never found the right track of mine to use it in—until a few months ago. The vocals really pull the experience together and give it a soulful feel.”
Soul certainly sits at the core of this tune, sculpted with a firm understanding of blending emotion and thought-provoking movement. Contemplative chords give lift to at-peace vocalizations, working together to provide a soft landing for cascading arpeggs that already feel lighter than air.
