Yesterday we cast our eyes back to 1980s New York City and the huge impact of the Paradise Garage on early house music. However, over on the European continent, another iconic club was helping define early rave and acid house in the form of the Haçienda in Manchester, England, that was blowing minds from 1982–1997.
Thanks to Mixmag , we’ve had our attention pointed to a special blog that has curated a selection of downloadable live sets recorded at the Haçienda during its tenure, featuring early DJ sets from the likes of Frankie Knuckles and Pete Tong ,as well as Sasha and John Digweed when the two UK icons were at the peak of their iconic partnership.
Conveniently cataloged by DJ as well as by year, the site also includes firsthand accounts from Haçienda dancefloor veteran Andrew Mckim, detailing what went down in the DJ set.
Head over to the Blog51 Haçienda archive now to enjoy the impressive archive of classic DJ sets.
