I love when people take stuff that was destined for the thrash bin and make beautiful new creations, also known as upcycling. Lockengeloet is a redesign studio in Hamburg, Germany. Handmade recycling and redesign is their mission. Since 2004 big oil barrels become cupboard systems, vinyl records are turned into wall lamps or books have a second life as coat racks. Every product comes with its own history and gets a completely new function. Lockengeloet ships worldwide.
Schränk: Cupboard made from oil cans. A special tin opener is used for these big oil cans, then the door is stabilized with two guitar strings and closed by two magnets which sounds and feels really good. You can expand your cupboards by piling them up: Take off the top cover of the lower Schränk, put the second one on top and tighten them up by fastening the top cover latch.
Rock N Roller: Paper towel holder. Three LPs are reshaped so that they will hold your paper towel, let you dispense the exact number of sheets you need, make space for five of your favourite spices and also be a handy spot for three kitchen towels.
Hauptrolle: Toilet roll holder made from vinyl records. The most musical roll holder on this planet. Two records hold on to the roll while its rolling abilities are still outstanding.
Kleiderordnung: Coat racks made of large books. Lockengeloet get the books for free from bookshops in Hamburg.
Schlusselroman: Key Holder. The solution for books, no one wants to open up anymore.
