One sentence sum-up of the wedding vibe: A simple but romantic morning courthouse ceremony followed by a brunch reception with a little Austin flair.
Other Cool Stuff We Should Know About
The wedding answered all my questions, and all the answers were the right ones. Yes, everything ran on time, even though we were on a super tight schedule and spent thirty minutes looking for my car keys . Yes, the serendipitous mint green vintage car showed up. Yes, I was having one of the best hair days of my life . No, my family wasn’t doing their typical pre-important-event thing where they snap at each other nonstop and seem to lose sight of the fact that this is supposed to be fun. Yes, my dress fit, even though it was made long distance and I didn’t try it on for the first time until three days before the wedding. No, I didn’t turn into Kristen Bell getting a sloth when I said my vows (though Eric came pretty damn close). Yes, having a DJ was the right choice and yes, it was a good idea to have five cakes .
The wedding magic meant everything went according to plan, but there were still some surprises. Like the moment when the cake knife broke. Or the moment when we realized that yes, people would dance—and by “people,” I mean Eric and me, which nobody saw coming. Or that point when we realized, Oops, Eric never exactly told his family the entire truth about how we met (online, and then I moved to Texas, uh, three weeks after our first in-real-life date) but my best friend Beth doesn’t know that so she’s clearly about to tell the whole story in her speech and it’s going to be hilarious and amazing and what can they really say now?
