WeTransfer is just that cloud-based service that’s used for downloading files, right? Not much of a musical connection? As it turns out, this assumption might have been wrong, with the news that legendary London DJ/producer and tastemaker Gilles Peterson has been hired as the company’s Music Director, to support its existing efforts in curating creative content.
Culture blog It’s Nice That broke the news that Peterson had joined the company to help curate live events, direct films, and forge new music partnerships for WeTransfer, working alongside its Chief Marketing Officer, Damian Bradfield, to help shape the company’s creative strategy.
“Every brand today is talking about being authentic; you can’t get more authentic than Gilles,” Bradfield told It’s Nice That . “He’s been curating contemporary music for as long as the tech industry can remember, with the energy and enthusiasm for new music of a 20-year-old.”
Peterson’s first project for WeTransfer will be helping produce the third series of the Creative Class documentaries, which detail the creative scene in Cuba and how it has thrived in spite of limited access to technology and the internet.
