The Balance Presents series is taking the lead as one of the most revered in the mix compilation field. The single-disc mix sees its DJs going the extra mile to inject a personal edge, often heavily featuring their own productions, as well as some heavy re-editing in the studio. Balance Presents has previously been manned by luminaries like Stacey Pullen , Kölsch , Guy J, and most recently Patrice Bäumel , and the latest arrives in early November courtesy of German house and techno veteran Alex Niggemann .
Niggemann has delivered a particularly deep and soulful mix that’s already getting rave reviews from those who have sampled it, and the Balance Music label has released a special 20-minute preview mix that offers us an idea of what’s due in November.
“It was important to create new ‘songs’ between each track during the transitions between them. For me, a ‘mixtape’ was always about that—trying to avoid obvious changes and create a fusion between songs, keeping the same mood, so the listener doesn’t hear a new song coming in, but realises after a few minutes that there was a change.”
