When Samantha of Corner House Photography wanted to do a little something different for a shoot, she knew just who to ask! Hunting down the last orange grove in the area with oranges still on the trees - it was harvest time - she enticed Tori, Trevor and their two sweet Boston Terrier pups Norma and Sophie to come along for the ride. String lights up, romance on.
Tori and Trevor met in high school; she'd tried to catch his attention by leaving class early and walking in front of him, but it took a summertime MySpace message from Trevor ("Do you come here often?") before they started talking. And talk they did - all night! As Tori told her mom the next morning, "I have been talking to this guy Trevor all night, and he is really something different, I feel like he might be 'the one'." They've been inseparable since then.
Fast forward seven years, and to the proposal, as told by Tori: "Unbeknownst to me, my mom had given Trevor my grandmothers engagement ring, and it was perfect. By the time Trevor and I got engaged, we had been together for 6 years. We had our two puppies, and a house, so one night we had a bunch of friends over, entertaining like usual and after everyone had went home Trevor came into our room and looked at me with the most genuine look I have ever seen from another person. There was so much love and care in his eyes that I knew what was about to happen, he took my hand and made me stand up. He got down on one knee and asked me if I would marry him and grow old by his side. And I of course melted a little, said yes and we just held each other for what seemed like 4 hours. "
“We didn't have too much glitz or glamour, but that's us. Were so happy with it being us, our happy home and our love.”
The two are in the midst of their wedding planning, with a laid-back outdoor wedding on a friend's property planned for next October. White pumpkins, succulents, and string lighting (of course!) are in the works. A new home purchase and renovations have pushed the schedule back a bit, but as Tori tells us, "Honestly, I think a lot of couples forget what your wedding day is really about - Trevor and I have that house that everyone goes to. We're the friends that always entertain, have lots of food and good company. We want our wedding day to be a representation of that, how warm and genuine our love runs for each other and the friends and family we have together."
