While dance fans need little excuse to proclaim their love for the legendary piece of hardware that is the Roland TR-808 , there’s been more chatter than usual this week to mark the “808 Day” anniversary of its 1980 release. While yesterday we were enthralled with the iO-808 browser simulator , this cool ad that’s surfaced this week allows us to keep the 808 love going strong.
While the words used in the ad were the actual advertisement copy used by Roland to promote their trailblazing machine back in the ‘80s, the ad itself is a masterful retro creation by London agency Origin , the same team responsible for the 808 feature film documentary.
