How do you pull off a vintage glam, Art Deco style brunch wedding at one of South Beach's most beautiful and swanky locales, The National Hotel ? Just like this. Monica and David rocked their wedding with style and grace - just like we knew they would! - and so did our Fave, Carolina Guzik Photography .
Monica designed their Deco-esque invitations in a palette of gold and blush pink.
David, a lieutenant for the city of Miami fire department, and Monica, a graphic designer, met through a long time mutual friend at Critical Mass, a monthly bike event in Miami. You might remember them from their amaze bike-themed engagement session in Wynwood? They hit it off immediately, bonding over a shared love of hobbies: biking, paddle boarding, and David's cooking.
How Monica describes her groom: "I like to describe him as loving, patient, and silly. I love that he understand me, respects me, and values me. Oh yeah... He cooks too!"
“I love that we can just be ourselves around each other, silly and fun. I love to laugh and he makes me do that everyday.”
And what David loves about his bride: "She's thoughtful, creative, and beautiful! I love that she supports me, I love that she puts up with my silliness (I can be a jokester sometimes). I love cooking for her. "
Although they originally tried to avoid a "cliché beach wedding", the two couldn't resist The National Hotel's vintage glam decor, chic pool area, and their willingness to work with their budget and ideas. Says Monica, "We went for a walk through and we both fell in love with the place. It's just beautiful. They were open to all our ideas... from brunch-like hors d'oeuvres like mini pancakes and mini chicken and waffles... to allowing us to park a giant fire truck in their driveway."
A bicycle wheel displayed a selection of their engagement photos at the entrance to the reception, along with a modern photo book for their guests to sign.
The two capped off the celebration with a ribbon wand exit... and hopped on a vintage fire truck! The ride was one of their favorite moments:
"It was soooo cool. I still can't get over it. We jumped on the back and left with the sirens on and friends and family cheering on. As we rode down the street bystanders were waving, beeping, and taking pictures of us. It felt like we were in parade!"
