Hi friends! I recently worked with Wedding Paper Divas to host an enchanting bridal shower for fabulous actress and style star Jamie Chung—and I’m so excited to dish about it! I worked with some of Jamie’s best friends to nail down the perfect garden-inspired theme at the cutest Italian restaurant (and newest celeb hotspot!) Jon & Vinny’s . So how did I pull off a garden party at a restaurant without an outdoor space? I brought the garden inside, of course!
Bridesmaids, are you starting to plan your best gal friend’s bridal shower? Whether your space or climate prevents you from having an outdoor soiree, or you simply want to take part in this hot trend, here are my tips and tricks for the perfect indoor garden shower:
- GREENS…and Florals! Did I mention greens and florals? You can’t have enough of these at a garden-themed event. Hang them from the ceiling, create lush centerpieces, lay loose stems with the table settings or even put up a mini flower wall if you’re feeling ultra-crafty. Classic greens and cream color tones are my personal favorite but don’t be afraid to add in fresh, bright pops of color.
- Remember the Stationery. Stationery is so important – invitations help set the tone of an event, after all! For Jamie’s shower invitations, I used Wedding Paper Divas’ Fresh and Bright design, which really evoked the garden theme while the fun colors gave the event a more hip vibe. And don’t forget all the special décor details. Custom menus, place cards, napkins and more are little touches that can be the most memorable; it’s so personal and makes a huge impact without breaking the bank.
- Dress Up Your Tables. Aside from stationery, there are tons of other touches you can add to your tablescapes to get that garden feel. Ethereal crystal glassware is perfect for a chic vibe or find dainty tea cups with a greenery design for a tea party. And remember, you can always try to borrow these items from bridesmaids or family members for some budget friendly mix-and-match fun. You can also use your tablescapes to add in a dash of the couple’s personality! I used Shutterfly to create acrylic blocks with fun facts about Jamie and her fiancé, Bryan. They matched the design theme and sparked some really fun conversation.
- Plan a Garden-Themed Activity. It doesn’t need to be overly complicated, but light activities are a laid-back way to get guests to mingle with one another. Try something simple like a quick succulent potting or flower arranging station. This also does double time as the perfect take-home favor for guests. Who doesn’t love a two-in-one?!
My favorite friends at Mark’s Garden helped me hang these lavish flowers and greens from the beams at Jon & Vinny’s. We used orchids, amaranthus, seeded eucalyptus and more. I still remember how great it smelled!
For the actual day-of stationery and décor, I decided to go for a more clean cream and green theme and Wedding Paper Divas’ Lovely Garland was a perfect fit. I used that design for the menus and even had it applied to custom placemats from Shutterfly! Small décor touches like these help bring an entire event together.
Vintage green glassware added some classic charm to these tablescapes. Dress your table up even more with customized napkins, flower stems or goofy pictures of the bride and groom in floral frames. Don’t be afraid to go crazy!
We set up an awesome flower crown making station at Jamie’s shower. Guests just loved getting their very own flower crowns and had a blast taking tons of group shots!
