Hi friends! Last week I designed another adorable event for Shutterfly and Drew Barrymore to launch Drew’s charming holiday collection. We held the event at Cynthia Rowley’s showroom in New York, which really allowed us to transform the space to match Drew’s style and personality…and of course showcased all her lovely product! Take a look at some photos below.

Bright, eclectic furniture really complemented Drew’s bold designs on the canvas prints, pillows, place mats and more.

I love a good DIY craft station! This one featured holiday cards from Shutterfly along with fun accoutrements inspired by Drew’s collection.

A fun idea for a photo backdrop! I love the ombre detailing.

Another seating area that pays homage to Drew’s bohemian aesthetic. I loved mixing the patterns and textures to get that artsy feel.

Who says your beverage station can’t act as décor? We incorporated greenery installations and wooden elements for a very different kind of bar.

Don’t forget about your furry friends! Drew loves her dogs so she naturally included some pet products in her collection.

Some more gorgeous items from Drew’s collection. That “Good Vibes” mug is one of my favorites!

You can shop (and personalize!) Drew’s beautiful collection here at Shutterfly. Some of these things are definitely going on my holiday list this year!

Hi friends! Last week I worked with Shutterfly to design a fabulous Mother’s Day event with the gorgeous Drew Barrymore. Shutterfly partnered with Drew and Children’s Hospital Los Angeles to celebrate moms and families at Estrella Sunset in West Hollywood. Take a look at some of the fun pictures!

A Mother’s Day Celebration with Drew Barrymore“Mini masterpieces of mom” were featured on a backdrop of greenery – these were Shutterfly Canvas Prints with artwork from Drew’s own children and kids currently undergoing treatment at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. Adorable, right? As part of their partnership with the hospital, Shutterfly is also donating $25,000 to support the kids.

A Mother’s Day Celebration with Drew BarrymoreI loved the overall vintage and homey feel of the décor. We used lots of earthy tones (which is so Drew!) with some pops of bold color, since it is spring time after all.

A Mother’s Day Celebration with Drew BarrymoreOne of my favorite parts about planning this event was being able to incorporate so much Shutterfly product. From acrylic blocks and glass prints to candles and picture frames…there’s really so much you can do and it’s all customizable! There are so many great décor options for parties, weddings, baby showers and so much more.

A Mother’s Day Celebration with Drew Barrymore

Check out this lovely flower necklace station! Having an interactive activity at events is a great ice breaker for guests to get to know each other. Something like this is perfect for a bridal shower to give the gals some bonding time.

The event was gorgeous and, most importantly, it represented Drew’s style. Huge shout outs to my wonderful MWPC team, Found Rentals , Mark’s Garden , Erin Rosenow and everyone else who helped make this event beautiful.

Hi friends! One of my favorite parts about the holidays is being able to go all out with holiday décor. I just love coming home from a long day to a festive wonderland. This year, I teamed up with HomeGoods to dress up my Beverly Hills home for the holidays.

Take a peek! My favorite part was how affordable everything is. Perfect for someone like me that likes to change it up a little every year. A Peek Inside My Holiday Home There are so many ways to bring the holidays into your kitchen. One of my favorite things to do when throwing a holiday party or dinner is to decorate the chairs with festive throws. Then, that becomes the party favor or take-home gift for guests. Décor and presents all in one!

A Peek Inside My Holiday Home I adore a nice, full tablescape. Ornaments in clear, sphere bowls, garlands strewn across the table and tons of fun, festive tableware. Don’t be afraid to take a cue from fashion trends and mix prints. I’m just obsessed with plaid this year and mixing it with other prints like chevron really updated the look.

A Peek Inside My Holiday Home I’m also really into copper this year and incorporated it all into my bar set up. Copper is just so chic and versatile – it goes with any color, texture, material, you name it! Ready for a Moscow Mule, anyone?

A Peek Inside My Holiday Home Yes, I have an intense collection of nutcrackers. For me, when it comes to nutcrackers, more is definitely more! The area behind the kitchen sink is an often-forgot-about area for holiday décor so I thought it would be the perfect place to display my beloved collection. And don’t forget those holiday-scented soaps and lotions next to the sink! Makes doing dishes just a little more appealing…kind of.

A Peek Inside My Holiday Home Don’t you love those festive cake and pastry platters for all those baked goods? Complete the look with bunches of winter foliage surrounding the sweet treats. Something as simple as branches of holly in a large, clear vase can make a real statement.

A Peek Inside My Holiday Home And here’s my living room! I accented the already rich colors of my furniture with cranberry wreaths, toy soldiers, throw pillows and fun stockings. Cozy, isn’t it?

A Peek Inside My Holiday Home Don’t forget to spread holiday cheer to your furry friend! I got the cutest plaid pet bed, throw pillow and some festive toys for our pup. The red metallic food and water bowls are so much fun and can really be used year-round if you please.

I had so much fun creating this look with all the great pieces from HomeGoods. It was really easy too, there was such a variety that it was really a one-stop shop for everything I needed and wanted. What holiday décor trends are you loving this season?

Mindy

Throwing a Festive Holiday Bash

Throwing a Festive Holiday Bash
Hi friends! Do you hear those jingle bells yet? I do! And that means holiday parties galore! Hi friends! Do you hear those jingle bells yet? I do! And that means holiday parties galore! Holiday parties don’t need to be cookie cutter anymore (but feel free to serve cookies) so don’t be afraid to throw a chic bash for your family and friends or just go completely traditional with ugly sweaters and all. Whatever you choose, here are some of my favorite tips.

  • Keep it warm. And I mean both temperature and ambience. Light a fire in that fireplace, display plenty of candles (scented ones will really set the mood!) or even try string lights, indoor lanterns and sconces to create that illuminating glow. Most importantly your spirit, as the host(ess), should be warm!
  • Prep in advance. Chances are you’re hosting the party in your home, so non-perishable décor like lighting, table settings and other ornaments can be set up in the days leading up to the party. Certain finger foods like dips, skewers and baked goods can also be prepared in advance. Be sure to have your outfit picked out well beforehand too!
  • Music is key. Keep your audience in mind here. Are they a rowdy bunch or a calmer, relaxed group? Either way, start the night off with some peaceful, but festive holiday music mixed in with some contemporary jazz or other sounds (no one wants to hear Santa Baby 45 times in one night). Then if the atmosphere calls for it, pump it up later on with some more upbeat jams and dance the night away!
  • Play with color. If red, white and green simply isn’t your thing you have a ton of options! Go bold with magenta and silver or keep it clean and elegant with creams, whites and golds. If you’re going for a non-traditional holiday color I suggest adding in at least a metallic or sparkle component to keep things festive.
  • Don’t have the time or budget to serve a full meal? Have a cocktail party! Serving a full, three-course meal for all your guests is a commitment. If you simply can’t swing it but still want to spread some holiday cheer, opt for a late-evening cocktail party with hors d’oeuvres instead. Fancy it up with some holiday-themed signature drinks or even hire a mixologist to give some drink-making tutorials.

Most of all, try not to stress too much! As long as you’re having a good time, nothing else matters. Enjoy!

Mindy

Get the Look! A Garden-Inspired Bridal Shower for Jamie Chung

Hi friends! I recently worked with Wedding Paper Divas to host an enchanting bridal shower for fabulous actress and style star Jamie Chung—and I’m so excited to dish about it! I worked with some of Jamie’s best friends to nail down the perfect garden-inspired theme at the cutest Italian restaurant (and newest celeb hotspot!) Jon & Vinny’s . So how did I pull off a garden party at a restaurant without an outdoor space? I brought the garden inside, of course!

Bridesmaids, are you starting to plan your best gal friend’s bridal shower? Whether your space or climate prevents you from having an outdoor soiree, or you simply want to take part in this hot trend, here are my tips and tricks for the perfect indoor garden shower:

  • GREENS…and Florals! Did I mention greens and florals? You can’t have enough of these at a garden-themed event. Hang them from the ceiling, create lush centerpieces, lay loose stems with the table settings or even put up a mini flower wall if you’re feeling ultra-crafty. Classic greens and cream color tones are my personal favorite but don’t be afraid to add in fresh, bright pops of color.
  • Remember the Stationery. Stationery is so important – invitations help set the tone of an event, after all! For Jamie’s shower invitations, I used Wedding Paper Divas’ Fresh and Bright design, which really evoked the garden theme while the fun colors gave the event a more hip vibe. And don’t forget all the special décor details. Custom menus, place cards, napkins and more are little touches that can be the most memorable; it’s so personal and makes a huge impact without breaking the bank.
  • Dress Up Your Tables. Aside from stationery, there are tons of other touches you can add to your tablescapes to get that garden feel. Ethereal crystal glassware is perfect for a chic vibe or find dainty tea cups with a greenery design for a tea party. And remember, you can always try to borrow these items from bridesmaids or family members for some budget friendly mix-and-match fun. You can also use your tablescapes to add in a dash of the couple’s personality! I used Shutterfly to create acrylic blocks with fun facts about Jamie and her fiancé, Bryan. They matched the design theme and sparked some really fun conversation.
  • Plan a Garden-Themed Activity. It doesn’t need to be overly complicated, but light activities are a laid-back way to get guests to mingle with one another. Try something simple like a quick succulent potting or flower arranging station. This also does double time as the perfect take-home favor for guests. Who doesn’t love a two-in-one?!

My favorite friends at Mark’s Garden helped me hang these lavish flowers and greens from the beams at Jon & Vinny’s. We used orchids, amaranthus, seeded eucalyptus and more. I still remember how great it smelled!

Get the Look! A Garden-Inspired Bridal Shower for Jamie Chung

For the actual day-of stationery and décor, I decided to go for a more clean cream and green theme and Wedding Paper Divas’ Lovely Garland was a perfect fit. I used that design for the menus and even had it applied to custom placemats from Shutterfly! Small décor touches like these help bring an entire event together.

Get the Look! A Garden-Inspired Bridal Shower for Jamie ChungVintage green glassware added some classic charm to these tablescapes. Dress your table up even more with customized napkins, flower stems or goofy pictures of the bride and groom in floral frames. Don’t be afraid to go crazy!

Get the Look! A Garden-Inspired Bridal Shower for Jamie Chung We set up an awesome flower crown making station at Jamie’s shower. Guests just loved getting their very own flower crowns and had a blast taking tons of group shots!

Pantone has released its Fashion Color Report for spring 2015 and I couldn’t be more excited to start seeing these colors everywhere. The theme “En Plein Air” encourages us all to appreciate earthy tones found in nature, and to dream of cool pastels in combination with warm and tropical brights. I love the simple pairing of the glacier gray and the dusk blue on the far right – it’s a classic pairing with a modern and calm feel. Soon-to-be brides, I hope you’re feeling inspired!

Hello Friends! I wanted to share the special celebration of Passover with you.  It’s a wonderful time to gather the family for a Seder (Seder customs include telling the story, discussing the story, drinking four cups of wine, eating matzah, partaking of symbolic foods placed on the Passover Seder Plate, and reclining in celebration of freedom. The Seder is performed in much the same way by Jews all over the world). My older sister Jaye is a wonderful cook and I’m the chosen one to dress the tables and buffet. Although it looks like a simple dinner party it takes days to prepare. All the hard work is very rewarding when you see everyone enjoying your efforts and telling stories of Passovers past. Enjoy our evening…xox Mindy 7 Market baskets!

Passover Dinner 2014 Passover Dinner 2014 I bought pebble rocks at the Home Depot and used them for placecards. Irene in our office was nice enough to calligraph them all. I  received great help from our friend Tanya Sowa, She helped with the florals! The vessel for the succulents were found at anthropologie and I plan on re-purposing them several times! My fav was the string of pearls that rested on the napkins next to the rock.

We went for a natural, desert feeling , lots of succulents and mixtures of cremes, woods and greens. Votives wrapped in burlap. creme canvas chair covers by revelry and my sisters linens and napkins.

Coffee set up I adored! You can always find interesting pieces in your cabinets and they don’t have to match! This Jadeite does make a lovely set up. Thanks Jaye for a lovely delicious evening!

Passover Dinner 2014 …and that’s my cute hubby (yes I know he looks like Jon Stewart) whenever I can celebrate with my family I feel so fortunate!

Passover Dinner 2014

My sister made homemade haroset in a small mason jar for a parting gift. Haroset is one of the symbolic foods on the Passover Seder Plate. After reciting the blessings, and eating a matzah “sandwich” combining haroset and maror, the remainder is often eaten plain, spread on matzah. It is so delicious, apples, cinnamon, nuts…and we sneak and eat it throughout the seder. Many recipes on line.

Special Thanks to my Nephew Spencer Hersh for his wonderful pictures…
