I’ve added several RSS feeds to my Travel Blogs Bundle on Google Reader. You can subscribe to the entire bundle if you’d like!
Here are some of my favorite posts of the past week:
Expat Thoughts: American Independence Day : Caz from y Travel Blog , an Australian currently living here in the States, shares her thoughts on the Fourth of July. This is a wonderfully written, complicated piece on what it means to be living in a nation that sees itself as the world. Which can be both a very good and very bad thing.
An Architectural Marvel in Valencia : Like modern archcitecture? Check out these pictures of the City of Arts and Sciences taken by Keith from Velvet Escape . Wild, stunning, and so clean — gorgeous! You’ve probably seen plenty of Valencia posts popping up all over the travel blogosphere — several top bloggers in Europe were invited on a blog trip sponsored by the Land of Valencia . I cannot wait to get to Valencia.
Partners in Crime: The Traveling Duo : Erica from Over Yonderlust shares her musings on traveling with Shaun, who has been “attached at the hip since we were sixteen years old.” Yes, we solo travelers get a lot of flak from the non-traveling world — but couples get plenty of flak from solo travelers as well! Don’t hate! Embrace!
Four Mistakes We Made In Our First Year Of Travel Blogging : Daniel of Two Go RTW lays out the mistakes that travel bloggers should try to avoid at all costs! I know that I’m falling behind in one area — commenting on other travel blogs, and skimming most of my Google Reader too lightly. Working full-time is no excuse!
Bolivia’s Isla del Sol in Photos : Camden from The Brink Of Something Else shares photos from Bolivia’s Isla del Sol, an island of which I had never heard, equidistant from La Paz, Bolivia, and Puno, Peru. These photos convey such beauty and tranquility — and the sky is so, so blue. I can only imagine how blue it was in real life!
Travel to Italy in Summer — Five Things to Know Before You Go : Face it: Italy is fantastic, no matter what time of year. That said, I would avoid Italy during the summer if at all possible. Marta from A Travel Around The World echoes these sentiments and lays out just what you’ll have to deal with in Italy in August. If you’re considering a summer trip to Italy, please read this first.
What’s It Like To WWOOF? This guest post on Twenty-Something Travel by Lindsey from Lindsey’s Most Compelling is an excellent piece for all those who would consider WWOOFing, or working in exchange for free accommodation on organic farms. I particularly liked that Lindsey was based in Portugal, as opposed to Australia or New Zealand, where everyone else seems to go!
Weird Habits Developed After Living Abroad : Linda Golden published this piece on the Matador Network about adjusting to live after serving in the Peace Corps in Togo for two years. Could you get used to drinking safe water after filtering, boiling and bleaching every drop you put in your mouth?
