We're rather smitten for this cool beachy color palette and laid-back couple. Kate and Jonathan met in Jacksonville on a rainy night, so it only seems fitting that a Florida storm made an appearance on their wedding day. Some call it luck and we think these photos from Brooke Images are a beautiful reminder to enjoy your wedding day, no matter what!
Kate mentioned she always dreamt of a beach wedding. The Casa Marina Hotel on Jacksonville Beach allowed for a toes-in-the-sand ceremony spot, plus provided a rooftop bar that accented their style perfectly. Choosing aqua, crisp white and lots of greenery created a relaxed and elegant mood. Kate says, "I love the beach and also the rustic chic style. I wanted to combine my favorite thing and decor with as many personal touches as possible."
A shared moment during the ceremony brought a dose of perspective: There was a huge black cloud coming our way. Our ceremony was delayed because our violinist did not show up, so we were trying to beat the storm with last minute ceremony music. It started raining and our pastor hurried it along.
“I became anxious and Jonathan looked at me and said 'it's ok'. I knew then that none of the rest mattered.”
We really wanted photos on the beach and our photographers saved the day with white umbrellas they brought just in case. Our entire wedding party was all for it, rain or shine. Turned out that we had the beach all to ourselves and were able to get some great photos, even at the expense of a wedding dress. They say rain is good luck!
Jonathan is a police officer and a captain in the Army and I am a local ER doctor. We are both very laid back, goofy and pretty simple people. Jonathan is very resilient, something that I admire. We are both very hard workers and are able to relate to each other on that level.
The good times continued inside for dinner and at the rooftop bar for a tented dance party. Kate was inspired by decor she saw on Pinterest and hand-crafted lots of beachy chic elements like white washed crates, aqua painted monograms, and found coral and driftwood items. Liz Stewart Floral Design brought in textured aqua glass, pale green and white blooms , plus (my favorite) succulents. So much pretty!
The hard work of wedding planning certainly paid off for these two. Best wishes for a lifetime of love in all kinds of weather!
