Bridal Blogger // Shea’s Wedding Desserts | Going Beyond the Cake

Hi Bridal Babes! I’m back this week with only 39 {when did this happen??!!} days to go, I’m talking about wedding desserts and going beyond the cake! With our wedding being a backyard bash and a little outside the traditional {cake} box, we wanted to switch it up a bit when it came to dessert. Traditionally, large tiered wedding cakes were at everyone’s reception with high costs and truthfully, a lot of leftovers. More recently, we’ve seen smaller wedding cakes on display with sheet cake in the back for serving, a more cost effective route to go. Alternatively, when we began thinking about our wedding, we decided to go with a mix of both – a quaint cut cake and a cookie bar! Dessert bars are very DIY + budget friendly, can consist of numerous desserts or a specific one {think cookies, pies and even doughnuts!} + are a gorgeous, easy + a tasty swap up for the big day! Below you can find some Dessert Bar inspiration, as well as the idea we’re going for.

Cut Cakes

I love the idea of these adorable cut cakes. They’re the perfect size to still be able to cut the cake + have a pretty cake topper without spending a lot or having to feed everyone cake! I think we’re all aware of my love for little cream cut cakes with pink/blush/peach garden roses {swoon}.

Cookie Bar

I’m excited we’re going with a cookie bar for our dessert at the reception! It’s easy to eat + easy to set-up especially for a backyard wedding and, who doesn’t love cookies?! #EveryoneLovesCookies
