“Hannah and Korey are two high school sweethearts who have finally decided to tie the knot. Korey proposed to Hannah on a snowy bridge in Chicago’s Lincoln Park, and we returned to that same location for their engagement session. I can’t wait for their Michigan wedding next summer! It’s going to be a lovely one.” – Alicia Magnuson Photography
How did you find your photographer?
We found our photographer, Alicia Magnuson , because I’m actually really good friends with her sister. She told me about Alicia and when I went onto her website I fell in love with her photography. She just has a unique style that I really loved.
What are you DIY-ing for your wedding?
Since Korey (my fiancé) and I are not getting married until August 2015 our plans might still change but at the moment we are planning to DIY most of the wedding (unless I get my way and we elope – haha). We are having the wedding at his family’s cottage on a lake near Pentwater so we are pretty much doing everything ourselves. We are planning to get married around 8:00pm so we are going to decorate the yard in a lot of string lights we will probably just get them from Target or Walmart. Instead of cake we are going to set up a s’mores bar and have a bonfire. We are not having a formal dinner so instead of having a ton of tables we are trying to find some old couches and cover them with sheets or slip covers for people to sit on. Both of our mothers make great salsas and dips so we are thinking of just having those with chips as appetizers. We want it to be very relaxing, different, and fun. And of course since I am a graphic designer I will be designing all the save the dates and invitations.
What are you looking forward to the most?
As far as planning I am really looking forward to trying on all the dresses, as I am sure most brides are. At the wedding I am most looking forward to seeing how everything pulls together. A lot of things are still up in the air since we do have a lot of time to plan still but I just hope I can make the vision I have in my head – a reality. The one plan I really am looking forward to seeing come together is the couches we will be setting up for people to sit on. I just hope everything works as well as it does in my head and we can make it fun and enjoyable. – Hannah, the bride-to-be
