Track of the Day: Misanthrop and Stoner Ignite Audaciously Aggressive Cut “Venere”

Phace and Misanthrop’s Neosignal imprint is notorious for blasting out bits that always handle business. The same sentiment also stretches over to its all-digital division, Neodigital, which is on the verge of launching its Eurofunk series at the end of the month. The first installment packs on the power. Across its six tracks, the compilation crosses both borders and barriers with the genre’s most prestigious purveyors throwing down in the name of neurofunk. Current Value, Signs, and Hybris are seen stepping up to the challenge, with the package anchored down by two separate collabs from both label heads.

While Stoner shows off his experimental side on the solo piece “Bring the Noise,” it’s his abrasive joint alongside Phace that really gets the party hormones circulating. “Venere” pushes out with howling synths and skin-crawling layers, eventually erupting into a virile amalgam of psychotic riffs that thrash and bash like there’s no tomorrow. Make sure you’re holding on to something before you give it a go.

Here’s what Misanthrop had to say:

I’ve been in touch with Italian-based Mattia Pirrone (aka Stoner) for quite a while. He sent through a very inspirational layout for a tune he was working on, so I asked if he would be up for a collab—that tune was obviously “Venere.” When he sent the stems, I tried to make it as complicated, strange and aggressive-sounding as I could, just to follow the concept of the tune. You need to know that Venere is Italian and means “Venus,” which stands for love, beauty and philanthropy. Well, not exactly what I stand for. ;-)
