This time last week Krista and I were getting ready to head to Baltimore for an event held by the fantastic bakers and designers over at Charm City Cakes . They hosted a showcase evening for this wedding season’s cake designs! We fell in love with the beautiful colors and textures that the creative minds at the bakery came up with- it truly felt as if we were walking around an art gallery. At one point I turned to Krista and just had to say, “And how does this piece make you feel?” Charm City Cakes take on other worldly designs, hand painted images, and glamorous gold glimmer! Chef Duff Goldman had a few moments to speak and what he said rang so true- these special cakes are ohhed and ahhed at briefly, but when looking at them you don’t typically think of the weeks of work that went into their creation. A staff member told us that while the baking might be finished in 48 hours, there are days and weeks of work on gum paste flowers, fondant work, and sketching out the perfect design. Krista and I had such a great night and we are so happy that we got to celebrate the hard work that goes into preparing for this upcoming wedding season! In fact Maude, a Spring intern told us that the names often come from someone who is near and dear to the cake designer. For example, ‘Hannah’ was named on behalf of Maude’s sister. How sweet is that?
