Today we are incredibly excited to have the lovely Lauren Haber from The Pearshape guest blogging! As an expert in dressing to flatter her figure, she is sharing a few of her favorite tips for dressing “the pear-shape” for your engagement session! Enjoy!
Dressing for an engagement session can be challenging. You want to look your absolute best and flatter yourself, but you also want to be comfortable. If you’re a pearshape woman with a larger bottom half, this can be a particularly daunting task. However, it doesn’t have to be! As a pearshaped blogger, I have nailed down two dress styles that are my go-to when I want to look great, but i’m unsure of what to wear. These two silhouettes flatter any pearshaped figure and will allow you to photograph at your best!
1. The Fitted Pencil Skirt
A classic style with a bit of sensuality. The length of a pencil skirt dress helps to camouflage any problem areas down below while tapering in at the narrowest part of your body: your waist. This particular dress has some fun ruching at the neckline to provide added volume in the chest, which will help to balance out the hips. If you’re at all self conscious about your arms, throw on a cute shrug or tied-back trench coat for a lovely layered look. With some Spanx underneath and nude shoes, this outfit is perfection for an engagement session!
2. The Fit and Flare
The fit and flare is for the bride that loves to move! A dress like this gives you some movement while still maintaining structure in the body line. Any pearshaped woman doesn’t want to create extra volume on the bottom, so finding a fit and flare with little pleating is imperative. Furthermore, a top with a bit of interest will help to balance out the less-fitted bottom. Finally, finding a dress that cinches in at your smallest part is key. For me, that is a few inches below my bust. Highlighting this area with a tie or belt will help to continue to draw the eye in. A bold necklace to move the eye upward and some swingy hair and you’re ready to run around for a fun engagement session with your loved one.
