What Can you Write about Fries?

“Do you know what we can write about fries on the computer?” Kalyra waves a hot chip in my face, tomato sauce dripping off the end of it.

She had just informed us that she had to go to work tomorrow. We were at dinner in Nelson Bay and were going to the Surf Pro contest in Newcastle in the morning.

“Mummy and Daddy are going to work tomorrow. That is why we are here now and going to Newcastle. We’re travel bloggers, we travel and then write about it.”

We then explained what we do and that is why we are always on the computer. “Pretty cool job, hey?”

Kalyra now wants to be a part of our y travel blog and would like a post written about fries.

Fries are definitely one of Kalyra’s favourite foods. I guess, I am in part to blame for that. When she lived in my tummy, I went through a stage when all I could manage to eat were hot chips and vegemite toast. Although, when the prawns came out on our seafood platter last night, she brushed the bowl of fries away and said she was full.

Fries don't look so good now

Fries are something that can be found all over the world, and at least you know what they are going to come out like and that they are pretty safe to eat. Sometimes though it might take a really long time. Like that time at Lake Bonyonyi in Uganda where they took over an hour to fry. Actually in Africa hot chips take a really long time to cook.

Hot chips and herbed mayo

In Australia, a favourite dish is hot chips and gravy– a perfect greasy hangover fix. Living in the UK and spending time in Europe helped me to develop a love for dipping my hot chips in mayonnaise. Who can forget the American favourite of saturating your fries with melted cheese and bacon?

And then of course there is the other version of hot chips that Aussies love, and if you haven’t tried it you are really missing out. Wedges with sour cream and sweet chilli sauce!

A chunkier version of hot chips

Fries in Maccas should be banned as they are just a poor, thin imitation of the ultimate best fires which should be fat and juicy- soft in the middle and crunchy on the outside.

So, I guess in the end there is a lot you can say about fries, I mean hot chips, I mean fries. What country are we in again?
