The Legendary Minimoog Model D Synthesizer Is Back

The Legendary Minimoog Model D Synthesizer Is Back

While the last time we saw any of these babies rolling off the production line was way back in 1981, lovers of classic synthesizers can rejoice, because the Minimoog Model D is back.

First available in the early ‘70s and famous for being the world’s first portable synthesizer, it is credited for helping shape the sound of a wide range of influential musicians, stretching all the way from Kraftwerk in the ‘70s to Dr Dre in the ‘80s.

Moog claims the circuit boards and layout of the revived model will retain the exact placement and design of the 1970s-era original, though it does include what is defined as a series of “popular functional modifications” that will expand the instrument’s sonic capabilities.
