Today, Roland is underway with a 909 Celebration Event they’ve defined as a “24-hour online music festival.” It promises the launch of a whopping 30 new products, and early this morning it unveiled one of the big guns: the DJ-808 , a super tech-infused collaboration with Serato that seeks to integrate live producing with digital DJing.
Intended for use in both in the clubs and in the studio, the coolest thing about the DJ-808 is the fact that it offers the sounds of the 606, 707, 808 and 909 drum machines, as well as an additional “VT Voice Transformer” that offers pitch-shifting and vocal key-matching.
Otherwise, it’s a just a very exciting-looking machine, a fusion of Serato’s DJ mixing software with Roland's famed music production hardware, featuring a TR-S drum sequencer and ultra-high performance platters with dual-deck control, plus two USB ports.
Serato insists the software integration of the DJ-808 goes deep, offering “the deepest Serato DJ integration available, anywhere.”
