Scablands bloom a delicious sight for the eyes
Scout, Rich Landers' English setter romps through blooming buttercups near Fishtrap Lake in late March. (Rich Landers)

PUBLIC LANDS -- I was exploring old, new and developing trails on the BLM's Fishtrap area on Saturday. The scablands are very wet and waterfowl are in every puddle.

I came over one basalt outcropping and found a garden of buttercups. Seemed as though the Wildflower Fairy tripped and dumped her basket of buttercup seeds right there.

Scout, my English setter came over and immediately started licking his chops.  I'm not kidding.
