"What should we wear?!" is a pretty common question for a photographer to hear while planning their clients' engagement session. Kristen Browning Photography set out to answer this query in style, teaming up with wardrobe consultant and Stuart Magazine fashion correspondent Marianne Humburg of The Happy Closet Blog to create three beautiful looks with a casual/chic Floridian Prep feel.
The first look is all about the color; says Marianne, "Living in Florida there is color around all year long. Take advantage of it by wearing a colorful frock from your favorite shop!" She paired a blue and white ikat-style dress from J.McLaughlin with a poppy red clutch and neutral metallic pumps. Greg followed suit, breaking up a dark blue set from Macy's by pairing the jacket with Dockers khakis, and bringing the color with a checked shirt and pocket square from J.McLaughlin.
For the next look, Marianne suggests a light touch for a vintage/cool combo vibe: "I know we've all seen those heavily vintage-inspired shoots around on Pinterest, and although we appreciate the creativity that goes into them we don't want to go that far. We've got the perfect solution. Pick a dress with vintage details in a modern and flattering cut. We picked this one up locally from Two Sisters Boutique , but I bet you can find one you love at any Anthro."
Greg's look is perfect for the laid-back, casual guy, complementing her dress with a light blue classic fit linen shirt from J.McLaughlin and light khaki shorts Banana Republic shorts.
And if you're looking for something a little more dramatic? As Marianne advises: "Did you find a dress that you are utterly obsessed with and is a complete showstopper? Wear it for your shoot! We scooped this one up on sale at J. McLaughlin, but there's more showstopping dresses out there to be had."
This is where you break out the full suit, guys! Going sans tie keeps it more casual-cool, and the dose of pink (via a J.McLaughlin shirt) brings that Floridian Prep style.
