Conveying a casual, collected style came easy for this teacher-photographer duo. They simply translated their passions and her family's bookstore into an intimate lakeside celebration with handcrafted chalkboards, antique cameras, and lots of vintage books. Monika Gauthier Photography captured this sweet couple in the gorgeous Central Florida light at Lake Weir.
From Emma: We wanted our wedding to reflect us as much as possible and to spend it with friends and family. We were fortunate enough to have many family and friends help with our wedding.
Matt and I met through a mutual friend that set us up on a blind date! We completely hit it off. He's patient and gentle: he's a teacher & loves kids - swoon. We balance each other well; he's my left brain (logic) and I'm his right brain (creative).
We chose Lake Weir for the cozy atmosphere. We both knew we wanted to be married under a giant oak tree and Swor Cottage was the perfect venue for that.
“At the end of the day, we wanted our guests to feel comfortable and for our wedding to reflect who we are and what we love.”
We wanted our wedding to feel comfortable, in a big backyard setting and went for a whimsical vibe; mismatching décor and florals with simple thrift store finds like books, globes, and cameras. We loved being able to spend our day with those closest to us. Our major mission was to avoid the "stiff wedding" feel. We wanted a comfortable, backyard party and we really feel like we accomplished that!
Y'all know we're total suckers for dancing under string lights and gorgeous sunset views! Congrats, you two!
