Outdoor gear designers will gather in Portland, Ore., this week for a two-day event called Struktur . It promises “presentations advancing the design of active outdoor apparel and equipment.”
It’s no secret that a ton of R&D goes into the equipment made by gear brands. The Struktur event will give designers from around the country a forum to discuss the burgeoning technology that could end up in the gear you will one day use outside.
“There was no space for designers in the active outdoor industry to come together and share what they do with one another, so we created one,” said Michelle Rose, co-founder of the event.
Struktur panels and presentations will be led by creative professionals who have designed apparel and equipment for brands like Columbia, The North Face, Icebreaker, Mountain Hardwear, Patagonia, Nau, Arc’teryx, Poler Stuff, Fjallraven, and Snow Peak, among others.
The conference will be held in Portland, Ore., on May 1 – 2, at the Billy Frank Jr. Conference Center. GearJunkie will be on hand to scour the conference for the latest gear and trends and learn from the best in the industry.
“We chose Portland for the conference because it is a hub for the active outdoor design industry, and is the birthplace of the merging of outdoor and fashion markets,” says Rose.
