Fifteen years after they met, Ashley and Marc tied the knot with their nearest and dearest in a modern, pink and grey, travel-inspired wedding at The Vinoy Hotel in their hometown of St. Petersburg. Kristen Weaver Photography captured all the moments of this gorgeous day, including the details the couple incorporated to signify the important pieces of their lives and relationship.
Marc and Ashley's wedding date - 3/7/15 - had special meaning to the couple, reflecting significant milestones in their relationship. They met in latin class in Marc's freshman year of high school, when Ashley was in 7th grade, and made their first true connection in Marc's senior year - in a funny twist of fate, she was his spotter in weight training class. Ashley was crushing on him that entire year, but he graduated and left for Yale. They kept in touch, and Marc asked Ashley to be his girlfriend 3 times (representing the 3, or March, of their wedding date) over a year and a half before she finally said yes on the night he was her escort for her St. Petersburg Debutante Ball. The two celebrated their seven year anniversary (representing he 7th as their wedding day) the night he proposed, and they'd known each other for fifteen years by the time they were married: 2015.
Both Marc and Ashley were born and raised in Florida, and wanted family and friends from around the world to experience their hometown of St. Petersburg. Hosting their wedding at The Vinoy, the site of that fateful Debutante Ball ten years before, brought everything full circle.
Ashley, a Director of Franchise Development for Burger 21, and Marc, Director of Brewery and Distributor Relations for World of Beer, share a love of fitness, food and travel; much of their eight years dating was spent long distance, often states or countries away from each other. The two incorporated this travel theme into their wedding day, with luggage tag escort cards and table numbers representing counties and cities they had visited. Ashley's gown was from London - the couple's favorite place they'd been together - and she purchased her shoes from Spain, where she had studied abroad. Marc's wedding band came from Canada, and they 'tied the knot' during the ceremony in honor of their love for Florida and its nautical lifestyle.
“Travel has not only become a hobby of ours, but it is actually what helped to form us as a couple. Through travel we have gotten to experience each other in different ways, learn how to use Marc's French and Ashley's broken Spanish simply to get by in different situations. We've gotten lost, been scared and had the best times of our lives while doing so.”
