Out of all the awesome new wedding decor trends that I’ve seen over the past couple years, embellishing the bride and grooms chairs for the reception is my all time favorite. It’s a very simple idea that can be executed in a plethora of styles… but today I bring you these DIY Flag Bunting Reception Chairs for the playful and creative couple! One punch and pretty paper is all you will need to make these adorable banners thanks to Martha Stewart Crafts brand new garland punches that have an awesome linking shape – which really holds some weight. I’ve also created a free design that you can print out and punch to further personalize your banners. This punch is so versatile that you can easily have pennant banners all over your wedding if you wanted to!
SUPPLIES:
- Martha Stewart Crafts Garland Punch, Pennant
- Your Choice of Pretty Cardstock
- Glue Dots Repositionable Mounting Tape
- Scissors
- My free design below!
To make the most of the cardstock, I cut it into 2.5″ strips – which also makes punching out the pennant flags super easy. If you decide to download print my free design below, you’ll need to do the same.
Now punch out all your pennants!
For my design, carefully center the punch over each letter and press. I used 67 pennants total for each chair – but your chairs will most likely be different! Measure your chairs if you can and punch lots of extra flags so that you’ll be covered no matter what.
Use my designs or print your own to personalize your banners! These letters are 1/2″ tall and you’ll need about 3″ all the way around each letter to have enough room for the punch.
Hook The Pennants Together!
It’s super easy to hook these darling little flags together and they really stay put. Some of my strands had 16 flags and some had only 11 – each one was different and depended 100% on the length that it draped across the chair.
Since your wedding planner (or friend) will most likely be setting this up for you on your wedding day, take a picture of what you want it to look like laid out on the ground to make sure that your vision for the arrangement is clear.
When printing these pdf’s make sure you click to choose “print actual size”.
