DIY | Wedding Luggage Tags

I love luggage tags, probably because I’m typically doing something fun when the need for them arrises. I have seen some incredibly beautiful luggage tags in many different styles from hand stamped leather on Etsy to glamorous Tiffany & Co. turquoise… there are so many to choose from. But what if you don’t want to spend $50-$100 on something so small, on something that could easily get lost or on something that says bride? What if you want something quick and don’t want to commit? Well, today’s DIY Wedding Luggage Tags project solves that very small problem. With a few simple supplies you will be able to make your own adorable luggage tags that will serve their purpose without breaking the bank… and of course I’m sharing these designs for free at the end of the post!

Here’s the thing, we all know that the very last time you get to be “the bride” is on your honeymoon… so take advantage of it! Or better yet, celebrate your new Mrs. status!

As you can see… I really had some fun with these! I wanted to share that you can print any of these designs on any color paper you’d like and embellish them to fit your event perfectly. If you are traveling for your bachelorette party – one of these for every girl is an absolute must!

SUPPLIES:

  • Self-adhesive, laminating pouches
  • Cardstock
  • Hole Punch
  • Eyelet Setter + eyelets
  • Corner Rounder
  • Ruler
  • Bone folder
  • Ribbon
  • Scissors
  • Our free download designs!

If my free downloads don’t tickle your fancy, feel free to design your own luggage tags and use the steps I share here to complete your project.

For my downloads there are 3 different tag “front” options and only 1 tag “back”. Print the back first, then feed the opposite side into the printer and print the front. Make sure to choose to “print actual size”.

After you have downloaded and printed your tag designs, cut them out on the lines provided. They cut to 4 1/2″ x 2 1/4″.

Laminate Your Tags:

Unless you have access to a laminating machine, you’ll need to buy these inexpensive “self-adhesive” laminating pouches. One side is incredibly sticky and the other is a durable clear plastic – once the sticky side adheres to the plastic, there’s almost no removing it.

Start with the clear plastic side down, add your tags with the title sides down, then pull the center tab away and press that little seam of sticky down onto the tags. Now grab your ruler…

With your ruler flat against the sticky side, simultaneously press and smooth the sticky side over your tags while letting the white backing sheet peel away. **This sounds kind of crazy but it works really well.

I used a bone folder to firmly press the sticky seal down to the tag and the plastic sheet backing. You can use your fingernail or a popsicle stick to do the same.

The next step is to cut your tags out and leave a 1/4″ gap of laminate around the edge.

You’ve probably seen me use this Crop-a-dile hole punch a gazillion times and it’s because I just love it – punches clean holes through almost anything and it’s also an eyelet setter. Punch a hole and then add an eyelet. The eyelet will protect the card from being ripped if the tag gets pulled on by accident… can you say TSA?

Next up, round the edges of your laminate card. It really finishes off the look and gets rid of that super sharp corner.

Finish your luggage tag with a piece of ribbon or twine. I used about 18″ for each tag.

SO pretty… hopefully your new hubby will be ok with you tying this tag onto his bag, lol.

Seriously a must for any traveling bachelorette party!

These are quick and easy to make, so if your address has changed or you have new contact info – just print out another! You also don’t have to commit. After your honeymoon is over you can just throw them in your scrapbook and then make a new set for your next adventure!
