The talented Anna Sodziak was given free range in choosing the destination for Willow and Dave’s engagement session – we think she did phenomenally, no? This midwest couple set their love to the backdrop of calm waves and sandy toes. This session captivated me with it’s genuine laughter and waterfront cuddles!

Each time I start to build an Etsy wedding inspiration board… I visit Etsy and click on the “weddings” tab. I browse the new items and wait till I see one image that inspires me so much that an entire board can be built just from it’s beauty. Today, that item happened to be the absolutely darling “I belong with you…” reception chair signs from Host & Toast below – the best part is that the other chair reads “..You belong with me”! This item inspired the warm and romantic… summery, peach and gold wedding bliss board below. Like always, these images are all from current Etsy listings – meaning you can buy everything you see below…

Engagement | Jim + Rachael
Engagement | Jim + Rachael
“As a photographer, there are always going to be couples on my social media feeds who I want to call “DIBS!” on as soon as they get engaged – Rachael and Jim have been on that radar for a long time. It was some serious kismet that I was able to make this shoot with them happen. I live out of state now (originally from Ohio) and visit often to photograph weddings. I saw their engagement status change (and that GORGEOUS ring) on my feed just one week before I was planning my next Ohio visit. Without a second thought, I immediately reached out to Rachael – who happens to be an awesome artist/designer/blogger herself and offered my services to them! At this time, she had had only days to process this exciting time in their life and could have easily turned me down due to short notice, timing or prior plans- amazingly, they made it work and we went for it! Rachael and Jim, lovers of beer, bikes, beaches and each other, along with their nautical, dreamy, swoon-worthy style added so much personality and authenticity to these photos. I am so grateful to have had the chance to work with this laid back, adoring, inspiring, model status couple and couldn’t be happier for them!” – Kayla Coleman Photography
How did you find your photographer?
Kayla and I actually went to high school together, but we really didn’t get in touch with each other until a few years ago. I designed a custom print for her wedding day and have been following her photography ever since. Kayla happened to be in town the week after Jim proposed, so even though it was a tight timeline, we knew we had to make it work! I couldn’t imagine anyone else shooting our photos. Her work is surreal and completely captured our love and personalities.
What are you DIY-ing for your wedding?
As much as possible! Jim is a true handyman and I love to DIY, so the sky is the limit. I will be designing all of our stationery and paper goods, as well as styling our centerpieces and decorations. We are also hoping to concept something unique for our ceremony backdrop. We really want the day to feel specially tailored to us, so we’ll do whatever we can to customize the experience!
What are you looking forward to the most?
Ahh… the dessert table! We’ve had this in mind for a while. I am obsessed with baking and we love to enjoy a good dessert together. We’re planning a beautiful spread featuring some of our favorite local bakeries. I also just can’t wait to say “I do.” I’ve been loving this guy for so long… that’s going to be an awesome moment! – Rachael, the bride-to-be

Much Ado Inspiration Shoot | Currie FitzHugh
“I do love nothing in the world so well as you.”
Currie FitzHugh must have known what she was doing to my anglophile heart when she submitted a Shakespearian infused styled shoot my way. She and her event-planning sister Tyler, dreamed up this styled shoot based on their favorite romance.
“As lovers of all things classic and timeless, my wedding planner sister and I wanted to put our heads together for a fabulous and romantic styled shoot. There is not much out there that’s more romantic than Shakespeare, and Much Ado About Nothing (1993) has always been one of my favorite movies. The witty banter between Beatrice and Benedick, and the love that develops between the duo has always captivated me as classic tale of fiery and passionate hearts. It was a joy for us to bring these characters to life, and although the models we had were mere acquaintances, we swear we saw some sparks of Beatrice and Benedick as the sinking sun drifted to sleep.
