“Allison and Kyle had a beautiful southern farm wedding at Allison’s grandmother’s house and farm. The day was full of rich sunshine, the perfect detailed touches, and lots of smiling faces! Everything was so perfect about this wedding and it has been one of my favorites this year.” – J. Woodbery Photography
What is your favorite wedding day memory?
“My favorite wedding day memory could not possibly be just one day. Kyle and I chose to have our wedding at my Grandmother’s farm in Altoona, Alabama. The farm is so incredibly special to us not only because it is where I basically grew up, but also the place where Kyle proposed. So because we had our wedding at a private residence, there was about 6 month’s worth of renovations and landscaping that had to be done to make the wedding possible. My favorite memory of our wedding was of course the moment I married my best friend, but I will never forget the memories we made with the friends and family that helped make our dream wedding come true…
What did you DIY for your wedding?
..Oh my goodness, yes we DIY-ed just about everything!! My dad and Kyle built the arbor that we were married under, my dad made a rustic doorway for ceremony area, I collected hundreds of ball jars for floral arrangements and lighting, we cut stumps for all the centerpieces and aisle decor for the ceremony, printed hundreds of pictures to display, I made a “waterfall wall” that I saw on pinterest for our reception area, and honestly I could go on, but basically we did not make floral arrangements or provide the food. We made everything else and it turned our perfectly! Every DIY project we managed to get done turned out great, but I had too many ideas so I didn’t get accomplish all of my projects…
Something old, new, borrowed and blue?
..My something blue was a blue topaz and diamond bracelet that my dad’s mother left to me. My something new was of course my rings! I guess I didn’t really have anything borrowed, but my something old would have to be the venue. My Pawpaw built the house and owned the property for many years, so it is rich in history and memories…
Any advice for brides currently in the planning process?
..Don’t overwhelm yourself with huge to-do list! Start with the essentials of the wedding, get the big stuff out of the way (venue, photographer, caterer, florist, officiant, wedding party attire, etc.) so you can focus on DIY projects. I know everyone says it, but the wedding day goes by SO fast that you have to remember to slow down and enjoy the little moments, it will be over before you know it!” – Allison, the bride
