This ultra DIY wedding, photographed by Ilene Squires Photography is so naturally beautiful both in ambiance and decor. Katie and Robbie were married at Mount Gulien for its rustic and refined feel and added plenty of their own personal touches. Take a peek!
Katie and Robbie met in 2001. “People were still using dial up connections and it was cool to actually have an AOL email address,” said Katie. After a very unconventional courtship, they were engaged at 11:11pm {significant for it’s wish-making abilities} on Katie’s birthday.
Katie wore an elegant Allure gown that fit her perfectly! We love the classic white lace, especially against the lush green scenery of the ceremony. She styled her dress with earrings {given to her by Robbie} that were designed and fabricated by her wedding ring designer – Lewis Palzer.
Antique jewelry is a great way to accessorize any dress and a perfect way to incorporate sentimental pieces into your day.
Robbie wore a black Hugo Boss tuxedo with a Lanvin knit bowtie and A. Testoni shoes. The bridal party wore navy blue dresses and ties to complement the earthy green of the forest.
The couple chose to write their own vows for the ceremony. ”I felt like mine were sweet and nice while Robbie’s actually got a rise from the audience, making him the better showman,” said Katie.
Katie’s brother drew this sketch of the actual barn that the reception was held in. The picture was used in their wedding invitations as well. We love that that couple not only made their own invitations, but had members of their family get involved as well!
The reception took place in an old barn tucked away off a long field that overlooked the Hudson River. The beams were wrapped with white Christmas lights, providing the only other lighting aside from the candles.
The cake, which was also made my by a family friend – Amber Klink – was stunning with ornate layers and photos of the bride and groom.
