Real New York Indian Wedding at The Plaza

Yesterday, we had the honor of sharing Pooja and Nils’ festive and colorful sangeet party , the first part of their two day wedding celebration. It was a wonderful precursor to their absolutely stunning wedding day ceremony and reception at The Plaza , which is the focus of today’s gorgeous post.

Emily Reifel of CPS Events at The Plaza helped Pooja and Nils coordinate all the amazing details of their day-long celebration, including a new twist of a traditional baarat… According to Emily, “Normally this is done with a white horse, but their baarat was performed with the help of Indian drummers and dancers! We drew a lot of attention being that it was outside in front of The Plaza on the Grand Army Plaza!”
For the reception, David Tutera designed some absolutely breathtaking décor that included an MASSIVE floral elephant that was in the middle of the ballroom.

From the photographer, Roberto Falck Photography:

Pooja and Nils have impeccable taste, proven by their choice of David Tutera as their chosen designer and The Plaza as their wedding day venue. This cross cultural Indian and Norwegian extravaganza was a photographer’s dream of lush and iconic details. Day one , at Pooja’s parent’s estate: a sea of bright colored saris and henna adorned palms. Day two, a rose embellished mandap under which the ceremony took place and a majestic topiary elephant at the helm of the reception. Pooja was breathtaking in her hand-stitched emerald, red and fuchsia lengha and Nils complemented in a navy tux.
As for the jewels…Pooja’s polki diamond necklace was made in the royal Rajasthani style. And royal this wedding felt…Pooja and Nils shattered all previous notions of an elegant and festive affair and most importantly, they enjoyed every minute of it.
