yokohama bay bliss

new favorite beach. new favorite past time.

Yokohama Bay puts all other beaches to shame.  I am in love with it so much that I found myself there 3 times last week…  and this isn’t an easy or short trip which makes it even the more satisfying when we finally get there. Located on the west side of Oahu, it’s about an hour and a half drive.  (And when you think about the fact that we’re on an island, an hour and a half to get to a beach is a pretty long time.) But it is beyond worth it.

This beach is PERFECT.

and the perfect place for shell hunting, my new obsession.

yokohama bay bliss I am pretty sure we spend more time in the water than on land while we are there.  There is something about being under the sea that is such a humbling and out of body experience.  Ariel had it all wrong when she wanted to grow legs and live on land.  I would gladly trade in my legs for a tail and gills to spend more time in the ocean.  I am addicted to floating and surrendering to the current, diving as far down as my lungs and ears can handle, and only surfacing when I’m 3 seconds before passing out.

I resurface only to take a giant breathe of air and plunge back down in search of the perfect shell 😉

yokohama bay bliss only 1/3 of the loot!

yokohama bay bliss Being on the westside also gives us front row seats to the most incredible sunsets you can experience.  A week later and I’m still dreaming of it.  It is an incredible reminder that no matter what life throws at me, I am surrounded by beauty, bliss, and eternal gratitude.
