The Glamour Doesn’t End in this Black and Gold Four Seasons Wedding

Classy, glamorous, and sophisticated have never been more appropriate words for a celebration as they are for Christine and Benjamin’s Four Seasons wedding in Seattle. With a slight vintage flair, the black and gold wedding designed by The Invisible Hostess included modern touches from florals to fashion. We love that the couple opted out of traditions that didn’t feel right, and instead focused on throwing a fun party for their friends to enjoy with French 75s in hand. The bride’s signature cocktail was as pretty as it was delicious with a sparkly drink stirrer peeking out!

I love old hollywood beauty, and wanted a classic but glam look for my wedding day. My dress was a custom Sarah Seven gown from The Dress Theory, which I loved. I loved that it wasn’t big or sweeping or complicated. For hair and make-up I wanted something that felt like me, but multiplied by ten. My earrings were dainty and I loved my gold sequin Kate Spade pumps poking out from the bottom of my dress.

We wanted to make things as easy as possibly for our wedding party, so they all just choose their own black dresses and suits. I loved how it all came together so organically, and not overly-coordinated.

The ceremony was my favorite part of all of our festivities. I was nervous about standing up in front of everyone, exchanging vows and reading letters we had written each other. But it ended up feeling so intimate, just the two of sharing a magical little moment before the party started.

For us, we wanted our wedding to just feel like a big party. We wanted things to feel elevated, yet fun, where our guests would walk away with amazing memories. We stuck with some of the more traditional aspects of a wedding – the first dance, cutting the cake, etc. and moved away from other things that just weren’t important to us — father/daughter, mother/son dances, tossing the bouquet, and the like.

Our colors were black, white and gold. Simple, classy and perfect for a winter wedding. We wanted every aspect of our wedding to exude classy and fun. We also wanted to stick with design choices that won’t ever feel dated (i.e. the classic paisley bridesmaid dress!). Instead, we opted for classic colors, looks and floral choices, all of which complemented a large winter ballroom wedding.

Our signature cocktails were also a hit – HIS: an Old Fashioned, HERS: French 75. We served these throughout the night with sparkly pom pom drink stirrers and seeing them just brought me so much joy!
