There ain’t no party like a Gatsby party, and Kate and Adam’s 1920s inspired wedding at The Carolina Inn certainly proved that true! Photographers Josh and Shelley of Hartman Outdoor Photography were on-scene capturing every sweet moment of the lavish affair, from the black-and-white-balloon first look to the handcrafted, Wes Anderson inspired bunny and fox cake toppers. The entire day was glamorous, and like a scene straight out of The Great Gatsby, Kate and Adam even took a glamorous ride around town in an ivory Excalibur while sipping on some champagne.

My wedding band was my own art deco inspired design, made by Scott Fisher of Diamonds Direct. My bracelet and earrings were by Jenny Packham, and wedding dress was from the Blue Willow collection by Anne Barge. I loved the little details of the dress that made it so unique- how one side of the skirt was draped, and the subtle striped pattern of the fabric.

The bridesmaids wore Jenny Yoo’s “Annabelle” dress in shadow gray. The groomsmen, in true Gatsby fashion, wore black tuxedos and black and white spectator shoes. Adam also wore a bow tie made of guinea feathers from Brackish Bow Ties, and his wedding band was a unique creation of wood, antler, and rose gold.

One big thing that made our ceremony personal was having Adam’s grandfather officiate it. We also included the Irish tradition of handfasting, as we both have Irish bloodlines.

We both agree that one of our favorite parts of the night was the car ride right after the ceremony. We had this beautiful Excalibur waiting outside the ceremony site to take us on a ride around town. We drove with the top down drinking champagne, which I’m pretty sure was illegal, but it felt so glamorous. It all felt like a scene out of the Great Gatsby.

I am an artist, so I hand made our cake toppers as a bunny and fox (Wes Anderson inspired, of course!) because anyone who knows us knows that is how I have drawn us since we first started dating. Together we also brewed our own beer as wedding favors and made soap as wedding gifts for our wedding party, as well as leather wallets that Adam crafted.

My second dress was by Tadashi Shoji. I wanted something with a vintage flare and great movement for dancing. My favorite part of that dress was the beading that created a line of separation down the middle of the bust and across the waist.
