Today’s Vietnamese Engagement by Joy Michelle Photography features the tradition’s of the bride’s family at an Engagement Brunch to celebrate the couple and joining of the two families. These beautiful photos capture a traditional Vietnamese Tea Ceremony as explained by the photographer, Joy Michelle, “The ceremony began with the Bride’s family lined up to receive gifts from the Groom’s family. After the passing of the gifts, both families walked into the room with the altar where they lined up on either side divided by family. The Bride (who was kept in another room) was then escorted in by her mother. Next, the Groom’s Father gave a welcome speech. As a symbol of the joining of two families, two candles were lit simultaneously. At this point, Seth and Wynn joined hands and Seth gave Wynn a ring. Seth surprised the family by telling Wynn, “I love you” in Vietnamese. Then, they served tea to their parents together. This is significant for showing respect and appreciation to their family members and also a time where the family members share their well wishes and blessings for the couple’s marriage. Wynn’s mother wished them 100 years of happiness. After the ceremony, Seth and Wynn changed outfits for some engagement photos and the brunch. I absolutely LOVED their outfit choices. Seth’s cream colored linen suit paired perfectly with Wynn’s yellow gown. We had a blast walking around the golf club taking photos. Wynn was all smiles and Seth couldn’t take his eyes off her.”
