Most of us carry our phone with us everywhere, even outdoors. What if your phone could add more value than just playing Angry Birds to pass the time stuck in a tent? The TaskOne case turns your iPhone into a useful multi-tool, able to do everything from cook backcountry meals and fix broken gear to sawing wood for the campfire.
TaskOne builds a multi-tool right into the case of your iPhone. Sixteen of the most useful tools are engineered into a package that adds no more thickness to your phone than a standard case. Utilizing quality hardened tool steels, aircraft aluminum, and polycarbonate, the TaskOne case is as durable and functional as a normal multi-tool.
Each of the tools is securely stored inside the case using custom spring assemblies. The tools are extended by the low-profile buttons on the back of the phone and are automatically fixed in the extended position during use. The raised bezel on the front of the case keeps the screen safe from damage.
The sixteen tools included in the TaskOne case are a 2.5" knife with 0.75" of serration, 1.8" sawblade with a peg tooth saw pattern for cutting wood and plastics, both large and small flathead screwdrivers, and medium Phillips screwdriver. A set of small but sturdy pliers feature an integrated a 2-8mm wrench and wire cutter to satisfy your inner MacGyver.
A total of 6 Allen wrenches, two spoke wrenches, and a wire stripper enable you to fix almost anything on your bike. A ruler, all important bottle opener, and kickstand for movie watching round out the useful toolset.
As all of us tend to fly with our phone, the knife is easily removable using no tools, so it can be left at home or stashed in your checked luggage. In case you forget and are confronted by an angry TSA agent, TaskLab sells replacements tools for only a few dollars.
The TaskOne multi-tool iPhone case comes in a variety of colors, including Slate Grey, Cherry Red, Jet Black, and Orange Flame. TaskLab is currently running an Indiegogo campaign to take pre-orders. For $75, you can get your own TaskOne case in Jet Black or $90 for a color of your choosing. Estimated delivery is April 2013.
