Berlin-based electronic experimentalist Jan Jelinek , founder of the Faitiche records label, has his misgivings about releasing his music in digital format, deciding with his Temple of Faitiche album to release it only on vinyl. As an experiment to explore digital formats in a different context, he’s offered up the album for free in a strange and interesting way.
The Temple-Cube is an installation that’s currently available for public viewing in Berlin, and is a concrete object measuring around one square foot, and weighing a whopping 150-pounds. The cube contains WAV files and digitized album artwork from the Temple of Faitiche album, and visitors can plug in their laptop and download the music for free.
“Every guest is more than welcome to connect her/his laptop to the Temple-cube and copy my work,” Jelenik told The Creators Project . “Data exchange, usually deterritorialized, is getting locatable.”
Anyone visiting Berlin can check out Temple-Cube at Image Movement until July 5.
