Tiny Lanterns Shine Bright

Everyone loves a lantern. Whether camping, chilling out in the hut, or just hanging out at home, lanterns add a nice cozy and inviting ambience. Here are some of the favorites we saw at Outdoor Retailer last month.

Snow Peak Mini Flame ($40): Anyone who often backpacks knows the problem–you have a garage cupboard full of used fuel canisters which aren’t full enough to bring on your next weekend adventure but aren’t exactly empty either. Enter the new Mini Lantern from Snow Peak. It screws right in to the top of your fuel canisters and creates a protected lantern flame–the flame is adjusted simply by rotating the glass. The lantern weighs just 5.6 ounces and measures 1.5 x 1.8 x 4.7″ so will easily fit in your pack or even jacket pocket. It will burn for 24.5 hours on high from a full canister. This is a fun way to ensure your canisters are truly empty before puncturing and throwing in the recycle bin.

BioLite PowerLight Mini ($45): This multi-purpose clippable lantern will go pretty much anywhere with you–even on your bike. A 1350mAh USB rechargeable battery provides up to 52 hours of light or a backup boost to your phone. It’s a lantern, bike light, and charger all in one. The lantern starts shipping in a couple of weeks and the bike mount is included.
