For Spring 2016, Sierra Designs introduces a new tent–the Nightwatch. Featuring a fly that can be deployed in three different configurations, the tent is sure to be a stargazer’s dream.
The fly on the freestanding Nightwatch comes fully integrated and can be secured in three different ways–fully deployed for bad weather, halfway retracted for some fresh air and sunshine, or fully retracted for prime stargazing at night or hanging out in your tent enjoying the view bug-free.
Similar to the Flashlight and Tensegrity line of tents, Sierra Designs ditched the vestibules in favor of awnings and gear closets at the rear of the tent that are placed conveniently away from the door. The internal ports that give you access to your gear double as doors when the fly is rolled all the way back.
Additional key design elements in the Nightwatch include an uncommonly wide drop door and hybrid wall construction that reduces weight and maximizes airflow. This fully featured tent comes in at 4 pounds 7 ounces minimum weight (canopy, fly, poles) and 4 pounds 15 ounces packed weight (including stakes, stuff sack, etc.).
The Nightwatch is also equipped with the new Night Glow that illuminates your tent using nothing more than the headlamp you’re already carrying. The versatile accessory made of feather light Polyester Taffeta reflects light from a headlamp to brighten the entire tent with an ambient glow. The Night Glow can be hung from the central hook, other ceiling loops, or can be strung between loops using the adjustable string lock.
The Sierra Designs Nightwatch 2, 3-season, 2-person tent will retail for $239.95 The Night Glow will be included in all standard Sierra Designs tents in 2016 and available separately for $14.95.
