Mad musical scientist Max Cooper is a renaissance man who’s experimented in a spectacular array of projects that starts with the dancefloor and extends to extravagant live experiments with spatialized 4D sound , reworking contemporary classical musicians, scoring videos for architectural projects, and now, curating extravagant NYC audiovisual art installations.
“For the last couple of years, I’ve been working with Architecture Social Club and Regan Appleton on a new type of 3-dimensional audio/visual light field installation,” Cooper says.
Having christened the project as Aether, Cooper describes it as taking the next logical step after his 4D sound excursions, featuring “an immersive sea of points of light which you can walk around as it warps around you.”
“The content plays on our emotional connection to fundamental natural form… exploring the beauty of basic spatial audio/visual—symmetries, waves, dimensionality, colour and geometric forms… I hope I’ll be able to bring it to [another] venue near you in coming months!”
Max Cooper’s Aether is on display at the Architecture Social Club in NYC this weekend, with a special one-off performance from Cooper tonight. Watch the preview video below.
