Berghain’s In-House Ostgut Ton Label Launches New Imprint for Ambient Excursions

Fans of the techno heard on the revered dancefloor of Berlin’s Berghain will be well aware of the club’s in-house Ostgut Ton record label, which plays home to music from a whole host of its residents, like Len Faki and Marcel Fengler , as well as some of the house music aficionados you’d likely catch playing its upstairs Panorama Bar every other Sunday morning. To create an outlet for music with a more ethereal vibe, the label has just launched its new A-TON imprint.

A-TON is described as a label that will focus on “ambient, archive and alternative music,” and otherwise musical material that differs from the “club-focussed records on the main label.”

The first release on the label will be an album from the ambient alias of Luke Slater , a mainstay whose history with techno stretches back to the early ‘90s. Slater’s The 7th Plain alias has been around for just as long, and his new Chronicles I album will represent a collection of remastered past works alongside brand-new material.

The 7th Plain’s Chronicles I arrives via A-TON on August 5. Have a listen to the previews below.
