Greetings from England — and I’m thrilled to be on the road again!
I’ve spent the past few days back in Chester. This was a very welcome way to start my fall in Europe — spending time with Dave, cooking, going out with friends, seeing The Inbetweeners Movie. I’m a bit sad to leave so soon, but I’ll be back in 10 days.
This evening, I hop on a flight to Munich. I’ve never been to Munich — nor even Germany! — and I’ve heard great things almost universally, so I’m planning for a fun time.
Tomorrow will be spent all day in Munich, and the day after, I leave for Innsbruck, Austria, and the Travel Bloggers Unite conference. I’m really looking forward to this event, seeing many of my travel blogger friends, and meeting with potential sponsors.
One nice thing about the conference is that there are free post-conference tours. I will be on a two-day tour in Austria’s Tirol region, going canyoning, go-karting, bobsledding (!!) and whitewater rafting! (I also heard this tour is just me and five guys — it’s just like Vietnam all over again! )
After that tour, I’ve been invited by Liechtenstein’s tourism board to spend a few days in the principality. I’m very much looking forward to this — most particularly, going wine tasting in the prince’s own wine cellar!
All in all, when I return to England on the 1st of September, I will have visited three new countries, made many more friends, and hopefully have locked up some new business opportunities. And I can’t ask for anything better than that.
As for the future, I hope to have more to tell you soon. But once again, the nagging truth is that I need to find a non-UK, non-Schengen area where I can spend around one third of my time here. The more I think about it, the best option might be cheap holidays to Egypt , specifically, Dahab. It’s a cheap Egyptian beach town and there are tons of cheap flights to Sharm el Sheikh. Truth be told, I’ve never had a huge desire to visit Egypt, but I’ve heard that Dahab is a lot like my beloved Sihanoukville.
But again, things are still up in the air, and I’ll have to wait and see.
