“Everybody needs beauty as well as bread, places to play in and pray in, where nature may heal and give strength to body and soul.” – John Muir
Mother Nature is my muse. I take more pictures of land and water than of people. I feel most alive surrounded by trees that stretch infinitely above me, an ocean floor hundreds of feet below me, and places untouched by man. Nature has given me so much – consitently providing without expectation. Solace, inspiration, refuge, peace… I’m refreshed and cleansed by Earth and her offerings. We all have become too good at taking and being accustomed to her selflessness. What are we doing to nuture her?
Earth should be in the spotlight EVERYDAY. I know that my own practices need to be analyzed and changed for her better health. Which is why this Earth Day, I decided to do some research and recommit myself to education and preservation.
I stumbled upon “A Billion Acts of Green” , an international movement to protect the planet and secure a sustainable future and the largest enironmental service campaign in the world. I figured this would be a good spot to start. Big green buttons with “Pledge”, “Donate”, and “Action” all jumped from the page with an invitation to JOIN THE MOVEMENT and submit your commitment. There are a million big and small commitments that can be made but before I make mine, I want to really focus and meditate on how I want to leave this place better and how I can make the biggest impact. From that place, I can engage in strong intention filled practices to spoil Mother Earth with love.
