Located high atop Vancouver on Grouse Mountain , sits one of the city’s best Disc Golf courses. Playing alongside the dry, grassy ski hills, this course has challenging and fun terrain with stunning views.
Disc Golf, also known as Frolf or frisbee golf, is a sport that has participants throwing heavy frisbee-like discs at a metal basket. Similar to real golf, the goal of the game is to finish the course with the fewest number of throws of the disc ( learn more about the sport here ).
The 18 hole disc golf on Grouse winds its way around the bare ski runs and into the forest, giving a great variety to the course with wooded, sloped, and unique holes.

The course is great for beginners, intermediate, and advanced players of frisbee golf, but don’t be surprised if you spend a lot of time trying to find your disc in thick bushes. Luckily, the first 9 holes are fairly simple, so you can get a hang of it before heading to the harder holes.
Each hole is given a unique name and a classification, there are 5 easy holes, 8 moderate, 3 challenging and 2 very challenging! You can always try the first 9 holes and head back to the chalet for french fries and beer if you’re not up to trying the more challenging back 9 holes.

The Grouse Mountain disc golf course is well-maintained and rarely has lineups at holes. If you don’t happen to already have a disc to play, you can rent two discs (1 driver/fairway and 1 putter) for $8. Or, you can buy discs for $11 – 20 at The Outpost. The course is open every day from 9am until dusk and will give you a great workout, a good time, and some stunning views throughout.
If you get hooked on frolf, you can also try some of the other courses around Vancouver, including: Jericho Hill , Queen Elizabeth Park , and Quilchena Park in Kitsilano.
If you don’t have a pass to get up Grouse Mountain , you will have to pay the $40 tram fee to ride up and play the disc golf course. Otherwise, you can always try hiking the Grind to get up!
