HUNTING -- Everybody knew that Jace Malek's last hunting trip would be bittersweet. But the emphasis was on the sweet.
A West Valley football star, Idaho Vandal recruit and all around good-guy, Malek has lost year-long battle with a savage form of cancer. Malek was diagnosed with Ewing's sarcoma last winter. He endured an amputation of his right leg, as well as multiple bouts of chemo therapy.
Last fall, friends, family and local hunters rallied to get Jace out for his bucket list hunting experience: Bagging a moose.
He scored, not only a freezer full of meat, but a personal goal under grim conditions and a memory his loved ones will never forget.
