As I got to know Shea our creative and beautiful bridal blogger, it became clear to me that I absolutely wanted to create a special DIY for her wedding day (actually I made 2)! We chatted for weeks about different ideas and finally came up with what I get to share with you today… Team Bride or Team Groom Buttons!!! A sweet and possibly hilarious way for your guests to showoff how they know each of you and even provide and ice breaker of sorts to get them chatting. Choose young, teenage, or current pictures to make into these adorable mini-buttons to give your guests choices; after all each of them will have met you at a different stage in your life. Display at your reception, listen, laugh and get ready to reminisce!
Sneak Peek!
Stunning. Obsessed. Swoon. OMG… what other words can I use! You guys, I seriously am splitting at the seams and dying to share Shea + Joseph’s full wedding with you – but it’s still going to be a few weeks until I get to! For now, here is one amazing shot by their talented photographer Shots By Cheyenne (all the event images you see here are courtesy of her).
“The Team Bride or Team Groom buttons were an amazing DIY for our wedding day! They were not only fun and interactive but also beautiful! As each guest walked into the reception area, they would grab a button, choosing from either, kid Shea or Joseph or present day Shea or Joseph to wear throughout the night showing off how they knew each of us. It was a really unexpected and fun project that allowed guests to mingle and find out how they knew us – all while trying not to laugh at my four year old bangs!” – Mrs. Shea Shoemaker
Order Your Custom Buttons
I got these from Social Print Studio and you can too! Simply upload your picture, choose to have the same one printed as many times as you would like and order. 15 buttons are $12 – what a deal!
Picture ideas: Shea wanted a childhood picture of each of them and also an engagement picture of each of them. She said her father wore her childhood picture the entire day and loved it!
SUPPLIES:
- Large Frame
- Easel (or way to display it)
- Custom Buttons
- Fabric
- Batting
- Two thumb tacks
- Scissors
- Our free printable design below!
Make Your Batting Frame
Here I have removed the glass of the frame and replaced it with batting and fabric. I’ve already shared a DIY of this exact part of the project and you can find that post here .
Cut Your Tag
Grab my free download at the end of the post, print onto 8.5″ x 11″ cardstock and trim. Love that poem I wrote! The color of cardstock I wanted didn’t come in 8.5″ x 11″ paper so I bought 12″ x 12″ and cut it down to size.
Add Your Buttons
Add all your adorable, custom wedding buttons to the frame. You might have to slightly pull the little pin out a bit to poke into the material.
Display At Your Reception
Have this sign out during your cocktails + reception as a fun ice breaker for your guests. As they take a button to wear proudly, they can then tell other guests the story of how they know you. Sweet and funny… especially with cute kid pictures like these!
Congrats to Shea + Joseph
Huge THANKS and CONGRATS to our bridal blogger Shea and her new hubby! Not only on their marriage but also for letting me have fun and incorporate a fresh DIY into their special event! I usually have to make my projects for “fake” weddings so it was truly a pleasure to be able to make something that was actually going to be used. xo.
As with all our DIY tutorials, if you create one of our projects please send us a picture – We Love Seeing Your Creativity! If you use Instagram or Twitter please use the hashtag #SomethingTurquoiseDIY and it will show up on our Get Social page. Happy Crafting!
