Face it: You want an adventure buddy with four paws (or maybe another one to add to your “pack”). Well, here’s a great opportunity.
Ruffwear announced a partnership with Best Friends Animal Society , a national animal-welfare organization dedicated to ending the killing of dogs and cats in America’s shelters.
Over the course of the partnership, Ruffwear will contribute $50,000 in financial support to cover adoption and travel fees for dogs adopted from Best Friends’ sanctuary in Kanab, Utah, to their new homes anywhere in the U.S.
Through the program, Ruffwear will highlight two ready-to-adopt dogs every other month (up to sixteen total for the year) who would pair well with adventure-loving, outdoor-oriented people. (See the first two pups here .)
The adoption and travel fees will be paid for by Ruffwear, and the dogs will also go home with a new Ruffwear leash and collar.
All other dogs at the sanctuary also qualify for free travel through Ruffwear’s partnership, however people need to pay the adoption fees
An additional $64,000 in product will ensure each adopted dog will go to his/her home with a new Ruffwear Hoopie Collar and Flat Out Leash .
Ruffwear chose Best Friends Animal Society because of its leadership in the no-kill movement. Since its founding in 1984, Best Friends has helped reduce the number of animals killed in American shelters from 17 million per year to about 4 million, the organization cites.
“We are grateful to our partners at Ruffwear for helping more dogs get into forever homes,” said Eric Rayvid of Best Friends.
