For the last few weeks we’ve been packing up boxes to put most of what we own in storage. The rest is coming with us to Mexico in the form of two checked suitcases and a carry-on bag each.
Wednesday the boxes went into storage. Yesterday we cleaned up our rental house so we’ll get our deposit back. Today I’m tired.
I’ve done this so many times now it should be routine—packing up the possessions and going abroad with far fewer—but it never really gets easier. In fact it seems to get harder as each time I am packing more gadgets, more cords, more chargers; the electronics have become both entertainment devices and work devices. Sometimes I miss the old days where a thumb drive for internet cafes was all I took.
I’m heading to the Outdoor Retailer Summer Market in Salt Lake City next week to scope out what’s new for Practical Travel Gear , so we’re hanging out at a relative’s house. Then August 5 I’m off to Guanajuato, Mexico for two years. My office will definitely have an upgraded view.
So nothing new or profound today, just a heads up on what’s coming. If you scroll down to the bottom of the right hand sidebar of the home page (if you’re not on it already), you’ll find links to the 10 most popular posts on this blog lately. Go read one of those for now.
Tune in next week for a return to more useful travel advice and info.
