Track of the Day: Ricin Designs Neuro-Fueled VIP of “Satellite Crew” [Free Download]

Saucy Records is about to break bread with OKNF collective, as they combine their respective reach in the UK and Brooklyn, to get the word out on an artist you should definitely be keeping close tabs on. His name is Ricin, and the Leeds-based producer has been fast on the rise following a handful of bits that exhibit killer sound design and heaps of originality. Neuro house is where most of his talents are being applied, and it’s the focal point of a four-tracker he’s rolling out for free over the next four weeks.

The titular cut, “Satellite Crew,” is a stellar space-age offering that has been given a nice boost toward the floor via a very special VIP version included on the EP. In the alternative take, he replicates the punchy, woofer-scraping drop at the latter end of the original and gives it some extra play between the orbiting synths, twinkling bleeps, sustained vocalizations, and hovering padlines. Ricin sets up the track in his own words:

A few months ago, my buddy Dosage and I started working on this neuro house sample pack—though, at the time, I wasn’t really sure if any of the sounds I was making were even usable. So, after a bit of messing around, I ended up making “Satellite Crew” in just under a day. It’s a pretty special creation to me, because I made just about every single sound in the tune from scratch. With the VIP, I wanted to push “Satellite Crew” harder and ended up with a pretty stompin’ track.
